The Beginning

This page from my 30th sketchbook was where I first came up with the idea for my DOCBOT comic book. When I sketched this page I probably was not thinking of creating ideas for a comic book. Some of these elements and the word I wrote down seemed to slowly evolve into the comic book idea I am building on at present. This page was drawn eight years ago today which in itself blows my mind.

DOCBOT Robot Concept Art

As I started to slowly develop this DOCBOT world and comic book I would sketch of all types of things like environments, other characters, equipment, etc. Here are some early roughs of other robots the main character might interact with. These are quick pencil sketches. In the end I am not sure what might be used but I have them to refer to and build upon. This process will always be an ongoing one as I create new stories, pick up new influences, etc.

Early DOCBOT pencil sketch.

Here is a pencil sketch drawn in 2004 of Docbot the main character from DOCBOT, when I was just starting to figure out how this character should look. I even was playing around with the environment and a logo title a bit. It is always interesting years later to see what design elements are still the same and what the rest evolved into. I may post so more early production art over the next few months.
